5 Best Places for Running in Malaga

Running

Although holidays should be about relaxing and recharging your batteries there is no reason why you can’t keep active during your holiday in Benalmadena. Although there are countless sports you can practice during your holiday at the Hotel MAC Puerto Marina, this month we are focussing on running. With a multitude of health benefits and minimal investment, it’s the perfect sport to practice when on holiday and so with this in mind we have compiled a list of our favourite running routes for all skill levels.

1)      Malaga’s Seafront Promenade

Head east along the seafront from the centre of Malaga toward the Pedregalejo district and eat up the miles of this beautiful promenade while enjoying the sea views. This flat route is approximately 10km if you decide to turn around at banos del Carmen and make the return trip. Alternatively push yourself during your 2020 holidays and head to El Palo where you can take a break with the locals and enjoy countless beach bars and restaurants.

2)      Puerto Marina – Parque de la Paloma

Starting from our Hotel in Benalmadena this is one of the most convenient routes to take. This route captures both nature and the city in a simple 5km route which will show off the beautiful port area and Parque de la Paloma which is one of our favourite parks on the Costa del Sol.

3)      Marbella

Between our 4-star hotel and the capital city of Malaga you will encounter the charming town of Marbella. Although it has a reputation as being a tourist trap it is definitely worth a visit and there is no better way than with your running shoes on. Enjoy the 4km-6km round trip along the Puerto Banus which is the luxury port area where you can marvel at the boutique stores and super yachts. We suggest you complete this route in the morning (depending on the month) if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle.

4)      Los Montes de Málaga

This longer, more challenging route for those hardcore runners looking to enjoy a sporting holiday can be found outside the city of Malaga. Take a trip to the stunning mountains that surround the city and get lost in nature (not literally) on one of the trails. The two most well known routes are the 10km circuit or the 22km one. So stay with MAC Hotels and explore every aspect of the region.

5)      El Quejigal

The final route we have for you starts near the A-368 road (if you need help finding it please ask our friendly staff). You will find yourself running through a viaduct before ending up in a pine forest. Once you follow the trail you will reach El Quejigal which is an ecologically important area where you will be able to see eagles hunting as well as mountain goats and nature.

So don’t forget to pack those trainers and get ready to explore Malaga at your own pace with MAC Hotels and some of the best running routes in the country.
