Frühstücksbuffet im Hotel Mac Puerto Marina

Summer, sun and beach – what more you want? But only good food can make the holiday a unique experience for all the senses. In Benalmádena on the Costa del Sol, not only sun worshippers are in good hands, but also foodies.

In the restaurant of the hotel Mac Puerto Marina, in the Andalusian city of Benalmádena, you can indulge in culinary delights. Here, the day begins with a rich buffet breakfast, which can be quite authentically in the Andalusian courtyard. The day must begin with a good coffee and a glass of orange juice, the right bread, a hearty omelette and fresh fruit. At noon you can have lunch on the terrace next to the pool. At night, the varied dinner buffet is the best moment of the day. Here you have the choice between international and regional fish – and meat dishes, various side dishes, a large salad buffet and a wide range of desserts, ice cream and fruit.

To enjoy the original Andalusian cuisine, you should also eat out. The region is known primarily by their specialties with fish and seafood, which play the main role in many dishes. These include the sopa de pescado (fish soup), gambas al ajillo (prawns cooked in garlic), pescaíto frito (crispy fish truned into flour and fried in olive oil, pulpo (Octopus), calamares (squid) or chipirones (small squid), the typical is crispy fried but also you can try freshwater fish such as the trucha (trout), which is caught in the mountain rivers of Andalusia. In addition to the restaurants in the historic centre of Benalmádena Pueblo, which we have already presented in a previous post, you should necessarily visit Benalmádena’s Marina, located just a few steps from the hotel Mac Puerto Marina. Here you can enjoy the local cuisine with magnificent views of the harbour and the hustle and bustle on the beach promenade.

Der Hafen von Benalmádena

Do it like the Andalusians and stroll along the harbour promenade, before entering the restaurant, local eating times – lunch from 2pm, dinner from 9pm -. We recommend you the Andalusian fish restaurants, where one can dine overlooking the harbour, for example the Taberna Marinera Pepi y Juan or El Mero de los Mellizos, which is known for its paella with seafood and fish. In addition, the restaurant has won first prize in this year’s competition “Healthy tapas” for its appetizers, which can be enjoyed with a glass of wine, Sherry or beer. Tapas’s lovers should also check La Despensa familiar in the Avenida Las Palmeras, located a few steps from the seafront promenade and frequented mainly by locals. This authentic tapas bar in which the old wine barrels are used as tables, serves regional delicacies such as ham, cheese, olives and seafood in an authentic Andalusian atmosphere.

If you are looking for international food, Benalmádena’s Marina is the right place for you: in addition to numerous Italian restaurants, here there is also Tex Mex restaurants, steak houses and restaurants with Asian specialities. To top off the culinary delights, only one thing is missing: an ice cream from the famous Gelateria di Porto Marina!
